Education Foundation Celebrates Los Fresnos CISD Teachers of the Year

The Los Fresnos CISD Education Foundation proudly celebrated 14 outstanding educators selected as the District’s 2026–2027 Campus Teachers of the Year, continuing its commitment to recognizing and supporting the educators who make a lasting impact on students across Los Fresnos CISD.

One teacher from each of the District’s fourteen campuses was selected through a peer-based voting process. To recognize their achievement, the Education Foundation presented each Campus Teacher of the Year with a $100 award, with members of the Foundation Board of Trustees joining the celebration to congratulate the honorees.

From the 14 campus recipients, Traci Blackman of Los Fresnos High School and Iracema Lopez of Las Yescas Elementary were selected as the District’s Secondary and Elementary Teachers of the Year.

Their accomplishments were celebrated during the Los Fresnos CISD Employee Awards Banquet, where the Education Foundation presented Blackman and Lopez with an additional $500 award each in recognition of their leadership, dedication and commitment to excellence.

Blackman and Lopez went on to represent Los Fresnos CISD at the Region One Teacher of the Year Awards, carrying forward the District’s tradition of excellence in education.

Education Foundation Partnership Delivers 150 Laptops to Los Fresnos CISD Seniors

The Los Fresnos CISD Education Foundation proudly joined AT&T, Compudopt, Los Fresnos CISD and state leaders to celebrate 150 Los Fresnos High School seniors and help support their next steps after graduation.

Through a partnership between AT&T, Compudopt and the Los Fresnos CISD Education Foundation, 150 graduating seniors received laptops as part of a celebration commemorating 150 years since the first telephone call.

Governor Greg Abbott joined students, district leaders and community partners for the special event, recognizing the accomplishments of seniors who have demonstrated college and career readiness.

The students receiving laptops were randomly selected from the Class of 2026, a graduating class that continues to demonstrate strong College, Career and Military Readiness. Seniors have earned college credit through Dual Enrollment, completed Career and Technical Education pathways, earned industry-based certifications and received acceptances to colleges and universities across Texas and the nation.
